Nike One Black Golf Balls
The Nike One Black has used a three part design to achieve a ball with maximum distance capabilities. When compared to the Nike One Platinum, the Nike One Black has a slightly longer driver shot distance with a bit less spin. The progressively dense core helps to reduce the spin on the ball from long shots. Driver shots are comparable tot he Titleist Pro V1, but the Nike One Black has a bit firmer feel than the Platinum or the V1 and it has much less spin in a short game. The large core of the Nike One Black, thin mantle, and urethane cover work together to maximize the distance off of a driver shot. Nike calls it a "Progressive Density Core". By having a core which changes in density, weight is kept away from the center of the ball and reduces spin from long shots. These straight-flying balls cut through the air at a high speed. Energy transferred from the club to the urethane cover, to the mantle, and finally to the core is quick and efficient. This energy is released in the form of speed, resulting in greater distances from driver shots.
This is an optimal ball for a distance game. The control for a short game provides less spin and a firmer feel to the ball than the Nike One Platinum or the Bridgestone B330s.
Beginner players will find that the lack of spin on short games and the firmness of the ball make playing with these frustrating, but experienced players who want to optimize their distance game will be pleased with the Nike One Black's performance.
