Callaway HX Tour Golf Balls
The Callaway HX Tour ball is the most technologically advanced in the Callaway line. Experienced golfers with fast swings will appreciate the distance this ball travels. It ranks as the best in distance among the Callaway line, and it brings the Callaway HX Tour to the same level as its major competitor, the Titleist Pro V1x. The three piece construction of these balls consists of a highly resilient rubber core. Coating this is an ionomer mantle and a thin urethane cover. The large core and ionomer mantle add distance to shots, the cover is thinner than other golf balls, but this allows for a larger center. The thin urethane cover is dimpled with Callaway's hexagonal design popular on its other golf balls. Unlike round dimples used by every other ball manufacturer, the hexagons covering the surface of the Callaway HX Tour provide improved aerodynamics by eliminating seams and reducing drag. Lift is increased by these balls and the ball has better control in windy conditions.
One disadvantage to these balls is the thin urethane cover. This allows for a larger core, but urethane is not the most durable of covers. Callaway HX Tour balls are also firmer than the Callaway HX Tour 56, but softer than comparable balls covered with Surlyn.
The distance achieved by the Callaway HX Tour is the best among all of Callaway's offerings. It has a low spin from driver shots and good control off of wedges and irons. This is primarily a distance ball, and it easily performs up to expectations.
